2025 Diagnostics for Low and Middle-Income Countries Conference

This July, the EPSRC Digital Health Hub for AMR was proud to support and help organise the third annual Diagnostics for Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) Conference, held at Reuben College, University of Oxford.

Bringing together students and experts from across Oxford, UCL, and around the world, the two-day conference focused on advancing diagnostic technologies to improve healthcare for underserved populations. It featured keynote talks and presentations spanning bioengineering, artificial intelligence, global health, and infectious diseases, all through the lens of equity and impact.

Speakers included:

  • Professor Dame Molly Stevens, Co-Investigator of our Hub and John Black Professor of Bionanoscience at the Institute for Biomedical Engineering and Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Genetics, University of Oxford, who delivered a keynote on emerging bioengineering platforms for ultrasensitive diagnostics.

  • Dr Andrew Singer, Deputy Director of our Hub and Principal Scientist at UKCEH, who spoke about the diagnostics gap for wastewater surveillance in LMICs.

A strong representation from our Hub was in attendance, and their participation was made possible thanks to generous funding from Professor Lord Tarassenko and Reuben College, to whom we are sincerely grateful.

This conference continues to be a powerful platform for collaboration between researchers, engineers, clinicians, and policymakers, helping to accelerate innovation in diagnostics where it is needed most.
